Homegrown came out of the love of songs. And we admit it–we love lyrics. That’s why we support rock bands and singer-songwriters. In addition to the many bands that act as primary vehicles for songwriters, we’ve hosted solo songwriters Steev baker, Justin Regner, Zach Pietrini, J.E. Sunde, Jay Matthes, and Trapper Schoepp on the Silver Lining stage. This summer, Brett Newski joins us in West Bend. Brett has toured almost nonstop for over 5 years both as a solo artist and with a backing band. During that time, he has recorded and released a number of great collections of songs. His latest release, “Life Upside Down,” finds his folk/punk/pop songs produced by fellow punk songwriter Hutch Harris of Sub Pop band The Thermals. Brett has opened for the Pixies, toured Europe, recorded for Daytrotter, and headlined two Shitty Barn sessions. It’s safe to say he’s the hardest working Wisconsin musician most folks don’t listen to. We’re stoked to see him play on July 7!
